- Cooperation with and support provided to members of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine for training held in Japan in fiscal year 2018
The fiscal year 2018 overseas training for members of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine was held in Japan on January 14-27, 2019. The Japan Society for Oriental Medicine (JSOM) supported the training by providing the following:
A lecture on the “current situation of oriental medicine in Japan” delivered by the Director of the Institute of Oriental Medicine, Tokyo Women’s Medical University, who is also an auditor of JSOM.
A lecture on the “outline of custom-made Kampo therapy and medical education on Kampo,” and a facility tour provided by the Director of Kitasato University Oriental Medicine Research Center, who is also a representative of JSOM.

JSOM Brochure
Establishment
Established in 1950 as the Japan Society for Oriental Medicine (JSOM), and in 1977, certified as an incorporated association, a non-profit foundation stipulated in Article 34 of the Civil Law.
Objective
The intention of the society is to hold research presentations and seek communication, tie-up and promotion concerning oriental medicine and contribute to the progress and dissemination of oriental medicine, and thus contributing to the development of scientific culture.
Activities
The Japan Society for Oriental Medicine engages in the following activities:
- (1) Hold scientific meetings and issue the Journal "Kampo Medicine" and "Traditional ＆ Kampo Medicine" as well other publications
- (2) Operate the medical specialist certification program of JSOM
- (3) Practice research studies concerning oriental medicine
- (4) Tie-up and interchange with various institutions Japanese and overseas
- (5) Other activities necessary for achieving the above objectives
Publication of Scientific Journals
Four editions of scientific journals "Kampo Medicine" are published yearly (plus abstract edition of Annual Meeting), and as of March 2019, we have published 311 editions in total (First edition, Volume 70). The authors are, as a rule, members of the Japan Society for Oriental Medicine. Contributions in English for international dissemination of oriental medicine are also accepted.
